The first dime, or disme, produced by the U.s. Mint was introduced in 1796 and its production lasted through 1807. A buxome Miss Liberty was featured on the obverse and the reverse was dominated by an Eagle, winges outstretched and surrounded by a wreath. The coin was revised for 1809 and finally included "10 C" on the reverse so everyone would know the coins worth.
