Braided Hair 1840-1857

The Braided Hair Cent was the last of the "large" cent style penny. The smaller Flying Eagle penny would shortly replace it. The large format had fallen out of favor with the public in general. This coin is relatively plentiful and prices reasonable in the lower grades.
