The Lincoln Wheat Cent came from the mint on the 100th birthday of Abraham Lincoln. Billions of these pennies were minted from 1909 through 1958 and are generally available at very reasonable prices to collectors, even those of modest means. The Lincoln Wheat Cent is also the first U.S. coin with the likeness of a real person, in this case one of the most respected Presidents of the U.S. Abraham Lincoln.
